Watch what God does and then do it…
God so gently speaks this morning as I let His words wash over me. All of scripture, all of life, all of history, all of creation, all that ever will be boils down to one succinct sentence.
“Mostly what God does is love you.”
I am overcome by these words that strike my heart so deeply. Everything He’s done or ever will do is based on His personal extravagant love for you and I. There is no other agenda. He loves us with all that He is. He surrounds us with the beauty of all of creation so that we can be wrapped in His expression of love for us. This really is almost too much to comprehend.
Love like that. He has created us for this one thing. To imitate Him in this extravagant love. I pray God help us to love people like that! Today, we will meet people that need, more than anything, to experience this extravagant love of God. One by one, you and I, together, we can change the destiny of a life simply by loving like that.
Watch what God does, and then you do it, like children who learn proper behavior from their parents. Mostly what God does is love you. Keep company with him and learn a life of love. Observe how Christ loved us. His love was not cautious but extravagant. He didn’t love in order to get something from us but to give everything of himself to us. Love like that. (Ephesians 5:1, 2 MSG)
