Unsure and unsettled. Distracted and discouraged. Lost and wandering. These are signs of being off course. We can so easily be taken off the path that God has laid out for us. Years ago, as a new Christian, I had a vivid dream of being in a row boat. At times, the waters were still and easy to navigate and at other times the current was so strong that it was a fight to keep the boat afloat and on course. Looking back, life is sort of like that dream. At times, everything is smooth sailing and at others it is easy to get off course as we fight to navigate stormy seas. The question we have to ask ourselves is this, what do we do and how are we going to respond when it is clear we are off course?
I find, for me, I have to stay connected to my lifeline. No matter what is going on, I have to cry out to Jesus in prayer. I have to take the time to read His Word because it brings life and healing. I never give up on God, I keep pressing in and eventually, I hear Him say, “This is the way.” I have tried to navigate life on my own under my own power and control and I’ve failed miserably. God and His word are your lifeline. He will help you stay focused on what lies ahead and keep you on course. He can realign your sight lines so that you can clearly see your destination. He can still the waters and set you back on the right path. The safest route to your destination is following Jesus.
Look straight ahead,
and fix your eyes on what lies before you.
Mark out a straight path for your feet;
stay on the safe path.
Don’t get sidetracked;
keep your feet from following evil.
